Anna Leigh Waters secured another title this season, defeating Catherine Parenteau in the Women’s Singles Pro Main Draw Finals of the PPA Tour’s North Carolina Cup. The final score was a convincing 11-4, 11-4 for Waters, showcasing her dominance on the court.
First Game
Parenteau, seeking revenge after a string of losses to Waters, fought valiantly but could not overcome her opponent’s superior skill and strategy. Waters, the number one seed, dominated the net and consistently pressured Parenteau’s service game. The first game was a close battle early on, with both players trading points until Waters pulled ahead at 5-3. A timeout by Parenteau at 8-3 couldn’t slow Waters’ momentum, and she closed out the game 11-4.
Second Game
Waters show exceptional control in the second game. Waters took advantage of Parenteau’s unforced errors, taking a dominating 7-0 lead before Parenteau could score a single point. A brief timeout by Parenteau at 7-0 did little to change the tide, and Waters easily to an 11-4 victory to claim the championship.
This is a remarkable achievement for the 17-year-old champion, who also won the women’s and mixed doubles titles earlier today. Waters won her 100th PPA Tour title today, becoming the second player after Ben Johns.

“It’s definitely not just me out on the court,” Waters said. “I’m being supported by everyone who helps me, whether it’s people I work with, my family, or my mom and coach. I couldn’t do it without any of them.
It’s particularly significant that the World No. 1 reached the century mark in North Carolina. She spent a part of her childhood living in the area, making this win a homecoming of sorts.
“I’m just super happy that I could get my 100th title here in Cary,” she said while talking with pickleballtv after winning the match. “This is where I grew up. This is where it all started.”
