Las Vegas, NV – Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns continued their dominance in the world of pickleball, clinching their 41st mixed doubles title together at the Darling Tennis Center.
Their victory over Jorja and JW Johnson, with a score of 5-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-1 capped off a successful Championship Sunday.
Despite being the top-seeded pair, Waters and Johns faced a slow start in the first game, perhaps due to the fatigue from their earlier matches in women’s and men’s doubles.
However, they quickly found their rhythm and dominated the next three games, securing their 14th title of 2024.
As the PPA Sin City event concluded, the focus shifted to Major League Pickleball, which will take center stage for the next three days in Las Vegas. Ben Johns expressed his excitement for the upcoming MLP matches, especially after his successful weekend.
“This week has definitely felt longer than it probably was,” he said. “It wasn’t the strongest start in singles, but I’m happy to finish with two titles. As for the rest of the time, I’m looking forward to playing AL tomorrow.”
Waters and Johns will face off against each other when the New Jersey 5s take on the Carolina Pickleball Club on Monday afternoon.
Fans can catch all the Championship Court action on Pickleballtv, while Grandstand Court matches will be streamed on the MLP YouTube channel.
