Kate Fahey claimed the women’s singles title in Milwaukee with a hard-fought 11-5, 5-11, 11-9 victory over No. 8 seed Zoey Wang.

The match showcased exceptional ball striking and athleticism. Both players delivered full-extension volleys to counter each other’s powerful passing shots.

After splitting the first two games with identical scores, the contest remained tightly contested deep into the third. At 9-9 in the decisive game, Fahey held her nerve, winning two consecutive points to seal the intense battle and capture her third title of 2024.

Being aggressive in the big moments was the key to coming out on top.

“Honestly, it could have gone either way,” Fahey said of the final game. “It was just about who was willing to be a little bit more brave and I was fortunate to come away with it.”

Fahey’s ascent to the pinnacle of women’s singles has been one of the standout stories of 2024. The former digital product manager at American Express is embracing every moment of her remarkable journey.

“Six months ago, I was working in a cubicle, commuting every morning in the cold and rain. Now, I get to travel across the country and the world playing pickleball. I’m incredibly lucky and grateful for this opportunity,” Fahey reflected.

Her impressive performance in the latter half of 2024 has earned her a spot in the CIBC PPA Tour Finals for women’s singles.

Joining her at the Finals is Parris Todd, who secured her place with a dominant 11-1, 11-5 victory over Judit Castillo in the bronze medal match.
