APP Tour Dominates Dallas with Intense Competition

The APP Tour returned to the Oasis Pickleball Club for another thrilling event, just a week after hosting the Inaugural Women’s Open. Despite the sweltering heat and windy conditions, players battled it out for gold medals in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

Women’s Singles
Yana Newell triumphed over Simone Jardim to secure her first gold medal of 2024 in singles. This victory completed Newell’s medal cycle for the year, as she now holds a gold, silver, and bronze.

Her path to gold was challenging; she narrowly defeated Domenika Turkovic in the Round of 16 with scores of 10-15, 15-12, and 18-16.

In a surprise twist, Megan Fudge withdrew, opening doors for other competitors. Rachael James took full advantage, earning her second consecutive bronze medal on the APP Tour, while Emilia Schmidt finished fourth.

Men’s Singles
Chris Haworth claimed his sixth gold medal of the year, defeating Max Manthou and Eduardo Irizarry before facing Jack Foster in the finals. Foster had a tense semifinal match against Grayson Goldin, winning 16-15, 17-15.

In the finals, Haworth controlled the game, winning 15-10, 15-11. Goldin secured a bronze, marking his fourth medal this year.

Mixed Doubles
Megan Fudge and Jack Munro captured their second gold together in mixed doubles, defeating Daria Walczak and Casey Diamond 11-7, 11-2 in the finals.

Diamond has been on a roll, helping her and Walczak beat Riley Bohnert and Will Howells in the semifinals, who had previously eliminated Yana Newell and Erik Lange.

Newcomer Randy Blanco won bronze alongside Bobbi Oshiro, achieving her fourth medal of the season.

Women’s Doubles
Jill Braverman and Megan Fudge continued their impressive streak, winning in Dallas by defeating Emily Cederquist and Yana Newell 12-10, 11-7. They didn’t drop a single game throughout the day.
