Pureplay Entertainment’s “The Wager,” a celebrity pickleball series hosted by Jason Kennedy, is set to start streaming on Roku, Tubi, Xumo, and Pluto in the coming months. Currently, the show is airing regionally on NBC Sports, MSG Networks, BeIN Sports, and more across over 100 markets.
In each episode, Kennedy teams up with PPA pro Wes Burrows to face off against a lineup of stars from film, television, and sports, including Taylor Lautner, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Shawn Johnson, Rande and Presley Gerber, Kit Hoover, Austin North, Johnny Lowe, Chandler Parsons, Bill Rancic, Colton Underwood, Golden Tate, David Dobrik, and Eric Decker.
Before each match, the teams place wagers, which can lead to charitable donations or humorous consequences, such as social media takeovers by the losing team. During halftime, the players share personal stories and insights beyond the court.
“Pickleball captivates players of all ages, and we aimed to create an engaging experience for everyone, whether they’re on the court or cheering from home,” said producer Brynne Chappell. “When we learned about existing celebrity matches, we knew capturing that excitement would appeal to a wide audience. We’re thrilled to have such an amazing cast in season one and to partner with fantastic platforms to bring this show to millions.”
Chappell and Dan McClung of Pureplay Entertainment, along with Kennedy and Genia Edelman, produced the series, with additional episodes for the season currently in production.
