“Graduating high school is just as important to me as my accomplishments on the pickleball court,” Waters shared. Her dedication to both her sport and education is evident, as she even took her English final exam immediately after winning her 102nd title at the Vizzy Atlanta Open.

As a homeschooled student since third grade, Waters has grown accustomed to juggling her passion for pickleball with her academic responsibilities. Her remarkable achievements serve as an inspiration to young athletes and students alike. “I’ve been homeschooled since third grade so I’ve always been used to playing a sport and doing school at the same time,” continued Waters.

Anna Leigh Waters Looks to the Future

As she closes the chapter on her high school career, Anna Leigh Waters is relieved to be leaving behind the nagging schoolwork and her mom’s reminders. “I don’t know if I’m glad that I don’t have to do school anymore or that my mom’s not nagging me to do school anymore. But definitely, both are something I’m looking forward to for the next couple of years,” she said.

So, what’s next for the young pickleball sensation?

Waters plans to focus on her sport for the time being, taking a well-deserved break from academics. “I might read some books here and there, but I’m going to take a break and then re-evaluate next year,” she said.

As she embarks on this new chapter, it’s clear that Waters’ future is bright. While she may be taking a break from school, her passion for pickleball will continue to shine through. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for this talented young athlete.
