Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau Claim Eighth Title of the Year
Top seeds Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau secured their eighth title of the year with a convincing 11-2, 11-6, 11-8 win over No. 6 seeds Jessie Irvine and Tina Pisnik on Sunday.
Despite their flawless performance, the duo faced stiff resistance from their opponents, particularly in the last two games. “We had to fight really hard, especially in the last two games,” Parenteau acknowledged. “They were making a lot of balls and have awesome resets, so we had to be strategic in our targets, move the ball around, and wait for the right moment to attack.”
Irvine and Pisnik’s Impressive Run Ends in Final
Jessie Irvine and Tina Pisnik had a remarkable week, upsetting No. 2 seeds Anna Bright and Rachel Rohrabacher and No. 5 seeds Hurricane Tyra Black and Parris Todd to reach the final. However, their winning streak came to an end against top seeds Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau.
Waters and Parenteau’s Unbreakable Bond
The victorious duo has now claimed 19 titles together, with 17-year-old Waters cherishing her partnership with Parenteau, which began long before they started competing together. “I’ve known Catherine since I was 11. She was playing with my mom, and I always wanted to play with her. Now that we can play together, it’s pretty special.”
Black and Todd Take Bronze
In the bronze medal match, Tyra Black and Parris Todd defeated No. 8 seeds Allyce Jones and Irina Tereschenko 11-1, 11-4, securing bronze.
